What does it look like for us to be followers of Jesus? In the first half Mark 9, Mark records the transfiguration of Jesus, with the curtains temporarily pulled back, so we catch a glimpse of Jesus in his divine glory. Soon after the transfiguration event, Jesus will cast a demon from a boy, who his followers were unable to help out themselves.
It’s in this part of the chapter that we will bump into the theme of disappointment, and we will talk about the ways we can deal with our own disappointments. We can feel disappointed by others, disappointed in ourselves, disappointed with God.
