Today, and for our next two Sundays, we are surveying the 3 eras of NT history, laying out the story line of the historical events recorded in the NT. The first era of NT history is the Gospel Era. The Gospel Era includes all the events in the life of Jesus of Nazareth, as told in the gospels. The Gospels are the names given to the 4 books, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, because they contain the good news message of salvation through Jesus.
Jesus, the most remarkable figure ever to have lived. The birth of Jesus is the dividing line that separates our human history into two parts, before Jesus and after Jesus. Everything before His birth we call B.C., before Christ. Everything after, we call A.D., Anno Domini, in the year of our Lord . . . So who is this Jesus of the Gospel Era?
