Paul’s letter is a warning to the Galatians, Don’t believe those false teachers, the Jewish Antagonists, who teach that unless you are circumcised and keep the law you cannot be saved. Really, it’s just the opposite. If the Galatians adopt this teaching and follow it, then they will not be saved. Christ will be of no value of to them. In Galatians 5 Paul is making it clear that the Galatians face an either-or decision. Jesus will be your Savior, in whom you will find forgiveness and eternal life, or you will try, unsuccessfully, to save yourself, embracing some form of performance-based religion, a salvation by works.
