I hope as my death approaches, by his grace, I’m obeying the Lord more, trusting Him more, praying for others more fervently, forgiving those who have wronged me, attending to the needs of those who are dear to me with greater sensitivity, graciously and gratefully receiving the care of those who would take care of me leading up to my death, and then after.
To die in such a way that glorifies God, so people think less of me and more of Him, so fellow believers are emboldened to live for Jesus . . . This is a good death for a follower of Jesus. The death of a believer is what is in our sights this morning. Maybe a surprise to you, death is included among the many aspects of God’s saving work in our lives. I appreciate that it sounds strange at first, that our dying would be included among those elements of Jesus saving us, especially when death is identified in the Bible as our enemy, an enemy that Jesus will ultimately conquer completely.
