God saving us started before we ever existed. God was at work in the past, in eternity past, working out our salvation, acting graciously toward followers of Jesus, before we were ever born, even before the earth ever existed. It’s the doctrine of salvation we call Election. Did you know this, that God held an election before the creation of the universe? And God being God, he was the only one who voted, and when he voted, he elected all those who he would save through his Son Jesus. The doctrine of Election.
