Then she fell on her face, bowing to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?” Ruth 2.10
If you’ve got a minute or two today, grab your Bible and read the Book of Ruth. It’s a love story! There’s a woman living a life she didn’t expect and doing so in a foreign land. There is an honorable man of means. There is a proposal. It is just four chapters and takes about 15 minutes to read through.
In those four chapters we read of famine and heartbreak. Of commitment and of faithfulness to family obligation. Of trusting God’s way and His plan. Of remarkable kindness and generosity; of virtue and of strength. Of honoring God’s design of family and of the kinsman redeemer who is, in my mind, the hero of the story. God gives us this story to remind us of Who He is.
So, if not today, this week. Read Ruth and be blessed. Our Redeemer took the burden of our sin so that we might be rescued by love! God’s love, grace, and mercy are real, active, and present. He makes a way where we cannot see a way. This is the love story of Ruth. A picture of God’s amazing love for you. An encouragement for every heart.
Because of love, Colleen
