Every Sunday morning after the worship team does their rehearsal in preparation for that morning’s services, Jason gathers up what is routinely referred to as “the gaggle.” The gaggle includes the staff and volunteers who are serving that morning. They meet together to get a run-through of the service and any last-minute instructions. Jason, our patient worship leader, sometimes appears to be herding cats to get us to the gaggle. Sometimes the gaggle is gathered and awaiting the leader who is juggling “just one more thing.”
Whichever way the gaggle gathers, Jason is always prepared with a message of appreciation of our teams’ presence, an encouragement of the importance of each person’s role to allow people to come into this safe place for worship, connection, and the ongoing coming to know our Savior and His intimate care and attention for each person’s heart. Helping people to praise Jesus!
Last Sunday in the gaggle, after hearing the reading of Psalm 148, a friend who, like me, is studying Genesis 1 and 2 for a few weeks, said, “That goes with Genesis!” My friend is right, of course, and once again I am so delighted to see God’s creation work woven throughout the Bible. I want the reminder. I need the reminder. I welcome the reminder.
Psalm 148
Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord from the heavens;
praise him in the heights!
2 Praise him, all his angels;
praise him, all his hosts!
3 Praise him, sun and moon,
praise him, all you shining stars!
4 Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens!
5 Let them praise the name of the Lord!
For he commanded and they were created.
6 And he established them forever and ever;
he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.
7 Praise the Lord from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all deeps,
8 fire and hail, snow and mist,
stormy wind fulfilling his word!
9 Mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars!
10 Beasts and all livestock,
creeping things and flying birds!
11 Kings of the earth and all peoples,
princes and all rulers of the earth!
12 Young men and maidens together,
old men and children!
13 Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted;
his majesty is above earth and heaven.
14 He has raised up a horn for his people,
praise for all his saints,
for the people of Israel who are near to him.
Praise the Lord!
All of God’s creation is called upon to praise God! We were created to praise Him!
It is a beautiful gaggle message to be shared with my online gaggle!
With joy, Colleen
