Jesus Provides Rock Solid Help - “Storm Preparation”
“The Lord lives; and blessed by my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.” Psalm 18:46
Today we consider the outcome of those who either put their faith in Christ and withstand disaster or trust themselves and fall in ruin.
Where are you placing your faith?
The Text: Luke 6:46-49
The Context:
1. The discerning question which causes us to examine our spiritual condition: Why do you call me Lord, Lord, and don’t obey what I say?” Luke 6:46
- Lord, Lord means . . .
- Why don’t you obey what I say? Excuses we make. . .
- What five things did Jesus tell us to do?
2. The delightful results for those who have a firm foundation.
- The come to Me. Matthew 11:28; John 6:35; John 7:37
- They hear My words. James 1:19-23
- They act on His Words by abiding in Jesus. Proverbs 30:5;
- Galatians 6:7-8
- The illustration of the wise man. Proverbs 22:3;
- I Peter 4:10-19; II Peter 1:3-9
3. The disastrous results of those who have no foundation.
- The one who has heard with a deaf ear.
- I Corinthians 2:14; Romans1:18
- The one who doesn’t do/obey them because it is inconvenient. I John 1:6-9
- The illustration of the foolish man. Proverbs 14:7;
- Ephesians 5:15-18
Conclusion:
Romans 10:9-10 “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
