Jesus Demonstrates Power Over Demons – Luke 8:26-40
“Glorify the Lord with me let us exalt His name together.”
Today we see Jesus’ power break the demonic stronghold on a man’s life. We can rest securely in Christ who said, “If God is for us who can be against us.” I John 4:4. If He can deliver this man, He can deliver you. Will you let the LORD help you become freer from sins vise grip in your life?
Verses 26-29:
1. Jesus meets a demonic man and sets him free.
- The setting . . .
- The demonic bondage . . . seized him and drove him into the desert.
- Man’s ineffective help.
Verses 30-36:
2. Jesus demonstrates authority over the destructive demons (exorcism).
- What is your name?
- The demons bargain and beg not to go to the abyss but into the swine. The abyss is . . .
- Three things indicate the demonized man was healed: sitting, clothed, and right mind. Luke 4:18
- What about you?
Verses 37-40:
3. Jesus commanded him to go and tell the great things God has done.
- Reaction of herders and towns people. Depart from us. They were fearful.
- He obeyed and went to his town and told.
Applications: Jesus wants you to be free!
- Are you a spiritual liberator or an inhibitor?
- Are there any strongholds in your life?
- If fear was no object, what would you do? II Timothy 1:7
