Jesus Chooses the Twelve – Luke 6:12-19

 

 

I. Jesus Prays to the Father – Luke 6:12

A. Luke focuses on Jesus praying

    Luke 3:21; 5:16; 9:18, 28-29; 11:1; 22:32, 40-46

B. Maybe it is time for you to slow down.

C. We pray to affirm our relationship with God.

 

II. Jesus Chooses the Twelve – Luke 6:13-16

A. Jesus calls the twelve. Luke 6:13

B. Jesus divinely appoints them with authority.

C. They move from learners to witnesses to multipliers.

    Luke 9:1-2; 10:1-2; 24:48-49

D. Their power came not from who they were but from Jesus.

 

III. Jesus With the People – Luke 6:17-19

A. Jesus goes to teach His other disciples.

B. Jesus went to teach and display His authority.
