Faith is Believing what God Says is True,
and Doing what God Says to Do. Luke 8:4 – 9:17
Jesus Calms the Storm, Luke 8:22-25
What Jesus has taught His disciples on the shore, He
will test them on in the lake.
Verse 22 - Jesus sets the course.
Let's go over to the other side of the lake.
Verse 23 - Jesus sleeps while the storm terrorizes the disciples.
A squall came down on the lake . . . and they were in great danger.
Verse 24a - The disciples wake Jesus and announce their despair.
. . . we're going to drown!
Verse 24b - Jesus rebukes the wind and the waves.
Verse 25a - Jesus rebukes the disciples.
Where is your faith?"
Verse 25b - The disciples ask a question they should already
know the answer to. Who is this?
Messages for those on the lake:
v You’re not on a lake in a storm; you’re on a lake in a storm, in a boat with Jesus.
v Most of your life’s journey will be lived on the lake of uncertainty and not on the safety of the shore.
v You are sailing for a shore you have never been to, but you are certain is there.
v The dangers on the lake are real, but if you stay in the boat with Jesus your journey will not end on the bottom of the lake.
v The same God who met your needs on the shore will meet your needs on the lake.
v It’s on the lake that God will test what He taught you on the shore.
v On the lake, faith will move from your head to your heart.
v The more you know Jesus, the easier it becomes for you to ride out the storms.
v Don’t focus on the severity of your storm but on the sovereignty of your God.
The Son . . . sustains all things by His powerful word.
