Discussion Recap 9/30/10

Hi gals!

As of this week, we completed our overview of Genesis 1 – 5 and so are now circling back to look at Genesis 1 in more detail.  This is only our second pass so we are still primarily observing what the Bible says rather than interpreting what it means or applying to our lives.  We’ll get there though!  (For reference, check out “Observation” on the front side of your laminated Inductive Bible Study guide.)

  • Thursday night we talked about science – you can view the PowerPoint slides here.  Personally, I’m finding that (even though I don’t consider myself a science person) I’m enjoying learning about things I’d never seek out on my own.  And I realized that Bible study and science are very similar – through them the believer can discover marvelous things about God’s character, His wisdom and power.  Believe me; it’s going to bless your socks off the further we go!

(Incidentally, I had leftover peach “Pi” for breakfast this morning – I could really get into science if we have “Pi” every week!

  • We started Lesson Two Day 1 together in class – key words and phrases we saw in Genesis 1 are:  the Trinity, man (it’s OK to color male and female the same for now), heavens, earth, “and it was good,” “after its kind,” “and it was so” and “after His image.”  Note that you don’t have to mark everything – only what is helpful to you.  Also, we didn’t get to question #2 in class so feel free to skip it if you’re pressed for time – it’s repeated on Day 2.
  • Homework this week is Lesson Two Days 2 & 3.  For new folks, I’ll send you helps this week by email, so don’t worry about the optional assignment at the end of Day 3.

Did you know that each of you are being prayed for weekly, by name?  We are blessed to study God’s Word with you!

Love,

Leeta

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD.  “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.  For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”  Isaiah 55:8-11  (NKJV)
