Leadership of PCC

Lincoln(andAndrew) - Picture of Lincoln and Andrew

Lincoln Loney, Lead Pastor

Pastor Lincoln founded PCC in 2000 with a small group of followers of Jesus. Until recently he was the only fulltime pastor on staff. (Yeah, Pastor Gordy is here!) Lincoln is the primary teacher/preacher at PCC and loves studying God’s Word with God’s people.

Where are you from?

I was born in Portland, Oregon. I’ve lived in Scottsdale, AZ, Anaconda, MT and Richland, WA. Richland is where I went to junior high and high school so I really think of Richland as my hometown, which is kind of funny because I’ve lived in Kitsap County longer than I have lived anywhere else.

When did you become a Jesus follower?

I gave my life to Christ in high school, hearing the gospel clearly through the ministry of Young Life. I went to college at Gonzaga University, a Jesuit University in Spokane. I didn’t choose Gonzaga because I was Catholic, I wasn’t, but a lot of students studying prelaw in Eastern, WA went to Gonzaga. Obviously I didn’t go the law school route. Studying communication at Gonzaga I grew more and more passionate about communicating the gospel to the present generation. Seminary followed and then pastoral ministry.

Why Poulsbo?

It was totally the Lord, the Lord and Sluy’s Donuts. I’m an Eastern Washington guy, but the Lord brought us here after graduate school and here we have stayed.

My Family

Stephanie and I have been married 21 years this April 1st, 2010. My parents knew I was in love with Steph when they saw that I allowed her to dip her French Dip Sandwich in the same bowl of Au jus I was dipping mine in. We now have 4 kiddos, Abby (15), Ellie (13), Chloe (10), and Andrew (5). A Golden Retriever was just added to the mix. His name is Hobbes, but I call him Mr. Piranha – ouch, those puppy teeth are sharp. I should also say the family of Christ at PCC is my family. I’ve never been part of a church family like this one; these folks truly are my family, and a family to my family.

Favorite Food

Coffee and donuts. I would have made a great police officer. If you know me, you know I love Starbucks. If you are looking for me you might try Starbucks. I’m a Vegan, if that means I don’t like to see vegetables senselessly murdered and eaten.

Favorite Book of the Bible

Whichever one I am currently teaching/preaching. I always say this whenever I’m teaching a passage, and I always mean it. If I was tortured into telling you what my favorite passage is, it would probably be the story of Zacchaeus . . . or the Parable of the Prodigal Son . . . or the account of Martha and Mary . . . did I mention I was preaching through the Book of Luke right now.

Favorite Book outside of the Bible

This is a tough one. Favorites include To Kill a Mockingbird, Les Miserables, The Count of Monte Cristo, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and anything written by Louis Lamour.

Favorite Movies

To Kill a Mockingbird, Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Ring Movies, A&E’s Horatio Hornblower Series.

Favorite Places to Escape with Your Family

Cannon Beach Conference Center on the Oregon Coast, and Sunriver, OR, south of Bend.

What I love about serving Jesus at PCC

It’s the people and the Word; it’s seeing the people studying the Word, it’s people seeing what God says in His Word, seeing people get excited about what they see in the Word and finally seeing the people being transformed by the Word and sharing it with others. It’s being with and leading people who love God’s Word and study it with humility that excites me most in my work here. I get so jazzed when someone shows me a new insight God has revealed to them right from His Word that they can immediately apply it in his or her life. It doesn’t get any better than that!

Gordy Gottfred picture

Gordon (Gordy) Gottfred, Associate Pastor

I have been at PCC for only a short time but I’m so glad to be here. The people here are a tremendous encouragement. I love to read, study the Bible, and lead people to a saving knowledge of the truth. One the theme verses of my life is, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes.”

Where are you from?

I was born in Rockford, IL, but after attending Junior college for a few years, I went to Bethel College and Seminary in St. Paul Minnesota. I then went back to Illinois for a few years and worked for Intervarsity Christian Fellowship at Rock Valley College before going out to the great Northwest. I have enjoyed being here and hope to continue to enjoy God’s country.

When did you become a Jesus follower?

I gave my life to Christ as a young child, but things got more serious in Jr. High when our youth pastor challenged us to begin reading and praying every day. I’ve been seeking to do that since December of 1971. The more I read the Word of God, the more I’m humbled by the greatness and majesty of God. I am amazed by the depth and encouragement of God’s word.

Why Poulsbo?

It was through Pastor Lincoln and the Lord’s leading. I have known Pastor Lincoln for a long time and I am very grateful to be here in this beautiful Norwegian town. I used to meet with Pastor Lincoln often and remember thinking that Poulsbo seemed so far away from Bremerton.

My Family

Glenda and I have been married 20 years as of June 26, 2010. We met on a boot camp in Wisconsin in preparation for a mission trip. I had been dating someone else at the time but I kept thinking about Glenda and her warm, loving personality. We now have 4 kids, Noah (18), Nicholas (16), Nolan (14), and Nichole (7). We have 2 Maltese dogs named Rusty and Coconut. They have produced a few puppies that sold like hot cakes. We have two sets of grandparents who support and encourage us in prayer. We are also grateful to be a part of the family of Poulsbo Community Church.

Favorite Food

I love peanut butter toast, chocolate chip cookies, and Starbucks coffee. I also love a good piece of salmon or steak. Actually I’m usually on a seafood diet, whatever I see I eat.

Favorite Book of the Bible

One of my favorite books of the Bible is Psalms. I enjoy reading through it and discovering practical truths for life. One of the first Psalms I learned was Psalm 119:9,11, “How can a young man keep his way pure, by living according to God’s Word, thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against God.”

Favorite Book outside of the Bible

One of the most influential books in my life is a The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozier. One quote from the book is, “Let a man set his heart only on doing the will of God and he is instantly free. If we understand our first and sole duty to consist of loving God supremely and loving everyone, even our enemies, for God's dear sake, then we can enjoy spiritual tranquility under every circumstance.”

Favorite Movies

One of my favorite movies which I saw recently was the movie “Luther.” This film tells a straightforward story about Luther's ideas and the issues those ideas raised for 16th Century European political affairs. It amply displays his belief in the importance of scripture and the "priesthood of all believers," and by implication it shows his idea that salvation should be achieved by grace through faith alone.

Favorite Places to Escape with Your Family.

Our favorite escape as a family was to go to Lake Retreat Camp and conference center in Auburn, Washington for a week of family camp. It was enjoyable to listen to great Bible teaching, and spend time together as a family, away from all media sources.

What I love about serving Jesus at PCC

It’s such a privilege to serve the Lord and God’s people here at PCC. I know Jesus did not come to be served but to serve us and give His life as a ransom for us. He gave His all for me, “He became poor for our sake that we might become rich.” I’m so glad that He came to love us and show us the way to true life. It’s such an honor to love others as God has loved me, counseling, sharing God’s truth knowing that God’s Word will not return void but will produce the change and transformation so God is glorified in us.
